We are pleased to announce that Master the Journey, presented by the Air Academy High School Mountain Biking Team, will take place at beautiful Cheyenne Mountain State Park in Colorado Springs, CO on Saturday, July 26th,  2025.

Master the Journey is a community event focused on supporting those living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), their families, and their friends.  The event will feature youth cross-country mountain bike racing to inspire participation in the sport while at the same time raising funds for our friends at the Children’s Diabetes Foundation

This event will serve as a great opportunity for participants in the Colorado League to hone their racing skills prior to the start of the 2025 race series.  For 2025, we are focusing on a limited, proof-of concept scope as we prepare to build up to a full-featured event open to the entire Rocky Mountain region in 2026.

The race format will mirror Colorado League events; however, riders will be grouped by age to simplify grouping of riders who may be new to the sport or the league.  Results of this race will not apply to Colorado League rankings.

Race Details:

  • Each lap will be approximately 6 miles in length with 700 feet of vertical gain.
  • U18 boys and girls will ride 3 laps.
  • U16 boys and girls will ride 2 laps.
  • All races will be timed, and top-5 finishers for each group will be recognized.
  • Pre-event registration will be required to ride.

Registration Requirements:

  • A nominal registration fee will be used to address event insurance, timing services, and venue expenses.

Next steps:

  • AAHS will launch a web-based registration portal for this event.  Stay tuned for details.
